Paro Taktsang or Tiger's Nest

The Paro Festival Tour is one the biggest and famous Tsechu in Bhutan. Paro Tsechu is the Festival where many tourists are attracted and is one of the very peak seasons for the tourist visiting Bhutan. During the festival, mask dances are performed by monks as well as by laymen. In-between the mask dances there will be folk dances by the Woochu people and the dancers from the Paro valley. The big Thanka or Thongdrel (Liberation at Sight) is unfurling on the last day of the Tsechu, very early in the morning. Every Bhutanese people wanted to get the blessings from it, as it is very important for their present life as well as after our death.

It is a very good opportunity to see Bhutanese people dressed so gorgeously, beautifully and expensive costumes.

Day 01: Arrive at Paro

You will fly to Paro International Airport via Drukair or Tashi Airlines. Upon landing into the country, you will be received by your guide and driver who will accompany you for the rest of your trip in Bhutan.
Drive from Paro to Thimphu
Distance: 54 Km|Driving Time: 1 hour

After which you will be driven to Thimphu where you will be taken to your hotel to relax after an exhausting flight. After getting refreshed and taking lunch you will be taken around for sightseeing. In Thimphu you will visit some major attractions like the 17th century fort, Buddha point, the memorial Chorten and many more. After sightseeing you will be taken to your hotel.

Day 02: Thimphu - Punakha

Drive from Thimphu to Dochula
Distance: 31Km|Driving Time: 1 hour

After breakfast you will be driven to Dochula pass. Dochula pass is located at an elevation of 3100 meters. The pass is one of the most idyllic passes of Bhutan. The pass is dotted with some 108 stupas built in honor of the fourth Druk Gyalpo (4th King) of Bhutan overlooking it stands the beautiful Druk Wangyal Lhakhang. After visiting these sites you will have lunch at Dochula Cafeteria.

Drive to Punakha
Distance: 63Km Driving |Time: 1 and half hour

After a brief lunch at Dochula, you will be driven to Punakha. As you enter Punakha you will notice the beautiful valley with its well preserved nature and its tradition. The valley is absolutely amazing with its traditional two storied houses speckled over the lush land surrounded by neatly trimmed terraces of rice fields. The valley holds a special place in the history of Bhutan as considerable amount of significant events took place in this region. Even to this day national events are witness in Punakha also because Punakha was the former capital of the country. At Punakha you will visit the palace of great bliss known as the Punakha Dzong and the longest suspension bridge over the Pho Chu River. After sightseeing you will be taken to your hotel.

Day 03: Punakha - Paro

Drive from Punakha to Paro
Distance: 126.9 km Driving Time: 3 h. 25 min

After breakfast you will be driving to Paro. On the way you will also visit the Fertility temple. The Chimi Lhakhang or the fertility temple is credited to the maverick saint Drukpa Kuenley who blessed the site by subduing the Dochula demon. The temple is famous for its belief that childless couples are blessed with children after visiting the temple and performing rituals.
After driving for another 3 hours you will be in Paro. At Paro you will be taken to you hotel and after resting for a while and taking lunch you will be taken around Paro town for sightseeing. You will visit some major attractions like the Paro watch tower museum, the Paro Dzong, the Kyichu Lhakhang.

After visiting these sites, you will be dropped off at your hotel for dinner and to rest.

Day 04: Witness Paro Tshechu (festival)

The flawlessly executed sacred event is the culmination of the dedication and years of hard work the monks put in to master the nuances of performing masked dance. The monks perform the dance wearing colorful silk brocade and ferocious mask. The event encapsulates the essence of the traditional arts and crafts of Bhutan and its culture. The highlight of the Paro Tsechu is the unfurling of the Thongdrel on the final day. At the break of dawn, the giant applique scroll is unfurled for public display. The painting depicts a seated Guru Rinpoche. Locals believe that a mere sight of the painting cleanses bad karma and accumulate good merits.

Day 05: Hike to Paro Taktsang (Tiger's Nest)

hike to Taktshang is the perfect way to end your memorable journey through Bhutan. Tiger’s nest monastery is located on a cliff at over 900 meters above Paro valley. It will take 4 hours to reach the monastery from the base where you will be dropped off. The steep trail takes you through lush green diverse forest and prayer flags all the way guiding you. The monastery is credited to a Buddhist master Guru Rinpoche. Legend has it that Guru Rinpoche flew to the site of the monastery riding atop a flying tigress and meditated in the cave for many years. The monastery still encloses the particular cave where Guru Rinpoche meditated.

After completing the hike you will be again picked up from the Base and will be taken to your hotel.

Day 06: Departure from Paro International Airport

In morning drive to Paro International Airport where your guide will accompany you to bid you farewell.
